After TEN hours of frikkin traffic in the snow

It saddens me to see all the motorist trying to get home using the infamous I5 (highway through the west coast in America) as they stand by in the blitzering cold yesterday. Hours and hours of traffic caused major pile-ups in the highway. Some gave up and stayed at the hotels at the exits but some persisted to stay and endure the traffic. One of those persistent folks were us.

Sunday, at about 3:00pm we left my cousins house at SeaTac with nothing but fog and a drizzle of rain, soon enough we reached I5. After passing through various airports and buildings, as well as the space needle, the rage of the awakening storm engages as cars sweeps through the damp highway. Marble-shaped snowflakes start to dive down with the gustling winds blowing at our windsheilds. Clearly, there was nothing motorists could do.

We stopped at the gas station to use the restrooms as well as to fill up. We overheard some people talking about the traffic at I5. According to a guy who just came from bellingham that it takes about an hour to get through the traffic. This however, is wrong. We jumped into the line up and crawl liek turtles running away from a predator on land. Hours pass by at the same rate as the number of cars that were in the ditch. A lot of some peoples car’s battery just shut off, and so they were immobilized causing another obstacle through the traffic. A number of BC residents were stuck and frusrated on the fact that they needed to get home since its already pitch dark and running out of gas.

Finally however, at the city of Bellingham which was about 100 miles off from the start of the traffic, the pile up lossen up and the motorists headed for Canada was clearly visible. Although the ice on the road were still compact and dangerous and there were stil a few cars on the ditch, the fact that they were comming home was priceless. At the border crossing,  a short line up formed and gently pushed through the crossing. It never felt so good when the officer said “Welcome to Canada”.
